Only One-Third of Moms Keep Up Their Breastfeeding Goals

A recent study found that only one-third of new mums actually keep their breastfeeding goals. A survey conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that only 85%percent of women actually intended to exclusively breast feed for at least three months. Out of those with such good intentions, only 32 percent actually kept up with their plans.

Obese women and those who smoked were the ones more likely to drop out of their breastfeeding goals. Even though women are aware of the benefits of breastfeeding, they had no desire or plan to breast feed their child in the first place.
