OFT to Probe Quality of Service Offered by Dentists
Acting on the information provided by the magazine Which? the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) in Britain is set to launch a nationwide survey into whether private and NHS dentists are providing good care to the patients.
Which? had conducted a private study back in May revealing that patients struggled to find comparable prices among private dentists and also were not sure about the cosmetic treatments recommended by the dentists.

The new survey by OFT will now look into four major points: whether it is easy for patients to change their dentists, whether they are given proper and full information regarding different payment methods and treatments available, whether the system for customer redress works and how the dentistry services are sold.

“Given the current strains on people's finances, we think it is a good time to examine whether competition is working effectively to drive up the quality of private and NHS dental services and deliver better value for money for consumers”, OFT’s Sonya Branch said, adding that the agency expected to complete the study by March next year.
