After a short hiatus, South Korean health authorities have reported new cases of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) each on Thursday and Friday. A nurse in South Korea's capital city tested positive for the MERS virus on Friday, July 3, 2015.

The 24-year-old nurse at the Samsung Medical Center contracted the virus while treating patients at an isolated hospital ward. With this new case the MERS toll has gone up to 184.

The total death toll remained stable at 33. Seven more patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the total number of discharged patients to 109. The number of people quarantined decreased from 2,247 on Thursday to 2,076 on Friday.
