Now, Long Breath Diet Gains Popularity
A new diet fad is gaining popularity in Japan with its developer claiming that you can shed those excess pounds simply by breathing deeply for five minutes a day.
The Long Breath diet has been developed by Ryosuke Miki, who is an actor by profession. Miki said that he developed the diet after he was able to lose around 28 pounds in 50 days by taking long breaths.

According to Miki there are two methods to perform the Long Breath diet, both of which involve clenching you butt cheek muscles tightly. In one method, you put one foot in front of the other and raise your hands as you take a deep breath while the second method is similar but involves placing one hand on your lower abdomen and the second on your lower back.

However there are many experts who are skeptical over the benefits of the method, with some even stating it may pose a health risk. Says Ian McDonald of the School of Biomedical Sciences in Derbyshire, England, “Inhaling and exhaling too deeply can disturb the balance between carbon dioxide and oxygen in the body needed to neutralize the blood. This can cause light headedness and even make someone faint. Contraction of muscles caused by exercise mobilizes fat stores. But it is only vigorous aerobic sport that triggers enough energy to turn fat into fuel. Deep breathing alone will burn up fat by two per cent at best.”
