No Significant Difference Between Men and Women's Brains: Neuroscientist

Contrary to the common belief, a neuroscientist claimed that brain structures of men and women are the same.

According the Telegraph, in a speech at ScienceGrrls's 'Fighting the Neurotrash' talk at the Women of the World Festival on Saturday, Neuroscientist Professor Gina Rippon, of Aston University Birmingham, said that that gender differences are environmental and not innate.

She said that the bottom line is that saying there are differences in male and female brains is just not true, asserting that there is pretty compelling evidence that any differences are tiny and are the result of environment not biology, the Independent reported.

To make the link between cultural stimuli and brain difference, Rippon cited a study that suggested that the brains of London black cab drivers change physically when they learn the encyclopaedic mental map of London's streets.

She said that in the same way, a muscle gets larger when it is used, women's brains are culturally trained to be 'wired' for multi-tasking.
