Goa Police on Friday arrested one of the accused in the alleged rape of a nine-year-old Russian girl.

The police arrested Anil Raghuvanshi from a bus stop near Pernem.

However, the main accused, Aman Bharadwaj, is still absconding.

Goa Superintendent of Police (SP) Bosco George said, "We have arrested one of the accused."

Goa Police had on Thursday released the picture of the two accused and were on the look out for them.

According to Goa Police, the main accused Aman Bharadwaj raped the nine-year-old Russian girl on January 26 at Arambol beach, 35 kms from Panaji, while his accomplice chatted up with her mother just yards away to divert her attention.

The girl was holidaying with her mother, when she was allegedly raped inside the water by the accused.
