Addressing an event organised by Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti, the Minister
said that the government is in the process of changing the laws governing organ
donation and transplantation. He added that the ministry is taking steps to
harvest cadaver organs and tissues so that and the government will be able to
regulate their supply.
‘Organ donation not only improves the quality of life and the lifespan of recipients, it may even prevent death and other critical conditions.’
Nadda said the changing disease profile in the country and rising
lifestyle diseases make it imperative that a system for safe, effective and
ethical donation of cadaver organs is developed at the earliest.
