New Health Insurance Scheme for Underprivileged Sikhs in Delhi
A health insurance scheme for economically weaker Sikh families in Delhi was announced on Friday.
This comes ahead of the March 11 elections to the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), that manages Gurdwaras and Sikh educational institutions in Delhi.

The pre-poll sop includes a tie-up with Radiant B L Kapoor Hospital for servicing the Guru Harkrishan Hospital, and providing free and subsidized medical treatment to Sikhs in Delhi.

Radiant B L Kapoor Hospital will pay DSGMC an amount of Rs 25.5 crore, which would be spent on education and health facilities.

Named the 'Guru Harkrishan Health Insurance Scheme', the plan would help provide a medical insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh to poor Sikh families in the national capital. They will be able to avail of free medical treatment in 150 designated hospitals in Delhi.

The announcement was made by the DSGMC and Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) president Paramjit Singh Sarna.
