American television news channel, NBC affiliate King 5, is reporting that young women have gotten smitten with this diet in order to lose weight. The diet is catching on thanks to the popularity of internet video.

Speaking to the channel, Dr Fred Campbell said that the diet was very common among supermodels who try to maintain their pencil-thin figures by eating cotton-wool balls.

However teens need to be aware of the dangers of this diet. Apart from issues with the digestive system, it is important to know that these balls are actually made up of polyester fibres and not cotton.

The best way to maintain a healthy weight is by consuming a balanced diet and exercising regularly.
