 New Bee Species in Brooklyn
A report published in the Wall Street Journal reveals that a different kind of bee will be humming around on the streets of Brooklyn and instead of honey, they are more interested in licking the sweat off your hands.
Researchers at Cornell University have found a huge increase in the number of sweat bees, including the presence of a new species of bees, Lasioglossum gotham that was found in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park.

Nearly 20 percent or 49 of 250 species of bees present in New York have been identified as sweat bees. The researchers said that the bees land on any sweating creature, though they seem to prefer humans, and lick off the sweat in order to maintain the salt levels in their bodies.
