MPH Degree Program Offered in India By Johns Hopkins University

Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health will be offering a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree program in Jaipur, India. It will begin in fall 2012 and it is in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR).

The Jaipur-based MPH program is specifically intended for citizens and residents of India and low- and middle-income countries in the region.

India to Upgrade 13 Medical Institutions to Provide Quality Medical Education
In a bid to upgrade tertiary healthcare infrastructure and provide quality medical education, the government will upgrade 13 institutions in the country

The program's focus will be on public health capacity building in developing countries.

The curriculum will concentrate on health management skills to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of public health programs and services, with special emphasis on issues facing India.

"As a School, we are committed to promoting public health and sharing our knowledge wherever we can. We are eager to work with our colleagues at the IIHMR on this region-based degree program to train a new generation of public health leaders. Together we can improve health and save lives," Michael J. Klag, dean of the Bloomberg School of Public Health, said.

Medical Education Becomes Dearer In Scotland
After India now it is time for the medical students in Scotland to voice their opinion against the hike in their fees.

The collaborative MPH program will consist of 80 term-credits over a full-time 11-month program.

The curriculum will be comprised of 23 didactic classes, plus a practicum and capstone.

British medical education suffers shortage of bodies
London:Britain has long suffered from a shortage of medical professionals. But now the lack of dead bodies is affecting the training of new doctors.

Classes will be taught primarily at the IIHMR campus in Jaipur, and online. Students will travel to Bloomberg School's campus in Baltimore, Maryland for two weeks to attend class in-person.

"The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health MPH Program in collaboration with IIHMR will be an important milestone in promoting public health and building capacity of health professionals in India and the South East Asia region," Shiv Gupta, IIHMR Director, said.

Drastic Change Urgently Needed in Medical Education in Developing World
Medical education in low- and middle-income countries needs to drastically transformed with regards to scaling it up.

"It will usher in a new era in providing high quality education and training in public health that will establish a new benchmark in this part of the world," he added.
