Moximed’s Atlas Knee System Receives CE Approval
Moximed, a medical technology company, has received the European CE Mark for its Atlas Knee System. The firm has offices in Hayward, California and Zurich and Switzerland.
According to a press release issued by the company, the device is a knee joint unloader designed to reduce the pressure applied to the joint. It also helps avoid the eventual need for a knee replacement.

The device functions like the shock absorbers in your car, but instead for the knee. It results in less damage to the cartilage within the knee, letting it last longer than it would usually without the support of the Atlas.

“We are proud to have implanted the first CE Marked Atlas Systems worldwide,” stated Claudio Zorzi, MD, of Ospedale Sacro Cuore Don Calabria in Negrar (Verona), Italy. “The Atlas System provides the same amount of joint unloading as the previous generation device, but it now offers a smaller device footprint and a surgical technique customized to the patient’s own anatomy. We anticipate the Atlas System will be used for a significant portion of our knee practice.” Dr. Zorzi and his associate, Vincenzo Madonna, MD, have the largest worldwide experience with Moximed’s earlier generation joint unloader.
