Model Feared Career was Ruined Due to Bout of Meningitis
A 23-year old men’s magazine model feared that her career would be over as she struggled to recover from a bout of meningitis that left her confined to the bed for months.
Holly Keating, from Dublin, Ireland, first started experiencing symptoms when she suffered from headaches and was initially told that she was suffering from influenza and was even prescribed Tamiflu.

However when her symptoms did not improve, she once again consulted a doctor and was finally diagnosed with meningitis. She was hospitalized for three days and spent the next two months confined to the bed and feared that it would be the end of her career.

“My career had really snowballed so to be struck down with something like this was very frustrating. I was starting to get a name for myself and people in my home town were recognizing me, but because I was sick I felt like it was just slipping away. I knew it could be the end of my career. It's only because I kept tweeting and Facebooking - and because I have great sponsors that stuck by me - that I didn't lose it all. Being that sick, and not being able to get myself out there, was just horrible”, she said.
