Media Circus Around British Teen Parents Continue, DNA Test Results may be Opened Live

As the media circus around the British teen parents continue, DNA results might be opened on live TV by the 13-year-old Alfie Patten.

Publicist Max Clifford, who is representing Alfie Patten and his family, said the schoolboy from Sussex is taking the DNA paternity test "as soon as possible".

The Pattens have reportedly been bombarded with offers of thousands of pounds from television studios keen to exploit the story of Alfie and his 15-year-old girlfriend Chantelle Steadman.

Chantelle said Alfie was just 12 when she told him they were expecting a baby.

She has rejected claims he did not father her child, publicly declaring "I lost my virginity to him".

"We decided to start a physical relationship because we love each other. There has been no one else. Other stupid boys are lying," she was quoted as saying in The Sun.

Even Chantelle's mother Penny Steadman has said her daughter has slept with other boys, but asserts it was Alfie who had impregnated her.

With as many as six claimants now, DNA test will become inevitable. But in an interesting twist to the unedifying episode, a friend of the Steadmans has claimed that the whole story was a scam devised by the girl’s mother in order to make a killing through publicity if the parentage is ascribed to a 13-year-old.

Clive Sim, 39, claims that the schoolgirl was ordered to keep quiet about sleeping with other boys so that the 'teenage dad' story could be sold to newspapers for thousands of pounds.

Mr Sim,who has known Chantelle's parents for years, told Daily Mirror: 'Penny told Chantelle to keep quiet about other boys because they wouldn't get any money.

'They know that Alfie being the dad makes a better story. I think there's a big scam going on here.'

The sensational claims come as bookmakers Paddy Power have been taking bets on who is the father of week-old baby Maisie Roxanne with Alfie still favourite, Daily Mail reported.

The teen mum and her baby are in hiding with Mrs Steadman, who says they are desperate to escape cruel gossip, other reports said

"We don't want to go back until Chantelle feels she can take the baby out in its pram without people shouting things at her," Mrs Steadman said.

"The sooner [the DNA test] is done, the sooner Chantelle and Alfie can get on with being parents."
