Looking at Sleep Patterns of Teens and Its Influence on Body Size
A study to delve into the subject of poor sleep and its connection to body size is all set to begin.
Wellington teenagers will be participating in the study.

According to Dr Kira, from Massey’s School of Sport and Exercise, the study is scheduled to begin next month and will examine sleep patterns and weight management in adolescents.

“Adolescents have the worst sleep patterns of all the age groups and are therefore particularly at risk of being overweight or obese. This study will focus on whether improving teenager’s sleep helps weight loss,” Dr Kira said.

Can improving teenagers’ sleep actually influence health outcomes, especially in the area of weight management? We will have an answer to this question after the study is completed.
