'Livelihood Issues' Bothering Chinese Netizens

Many Chinese have voiced their complaints online saying that "livelihood issues," including the social security system and affordable housing, have remained their top concerns.
They have raised their concerns online with the hope that it could be noticed by China's top leaders, national lawmakers and political advisors who will gather in Beijing next month for the two sessions, Xinhua reports.

Among the 25 listed topics that they have brought up, "affordable housing" has got the maximum number of votes till Saturday in a survey on xinhuanet.com, the website sponsored by Xinhua News Agency. It earned about 5.92 percent of the 362,126 votes, followed by concerns about inflation, employment and income.

The post messages shows concerns and hopes of the Chinese people the government could prove affordable houses to low-income groups and tighten measures to rein in property prices.

"The affordable houses should never be used as a tool of profiteering for rich people," an online posting said.

Besides, most people also expressed concerns over the social security system in China.

Of a total of 111,376 votes on over a dozen topics, "social security" gained 28,055 votes and remained the largest concern for the Chinese people, according to the ongoing poll on the website as of Saturday.
