The last is always the best, especially for chocolates after researchers from the University of Michigan found that people enjoy the last piece of chocolate more than any other.

Around 52 students took part in the study and were given five random pieces of Hershey’s Kisses chocolate. Each time they were handed the pieces with the words “Here’s the next one” before being asked to rate how enjoyable it was on a scale of 0 to 10.

When the researchers handed over the last piece of chocolate, they told the students, “Here’s the last one.” The last chocolate was rated as being the best.

"It's also possible that we have become used to expecting endings to be happy. When you simply tell people something is the last, they may like that thing more," Ed O’Brien, the study leader, told the Daily Telegraph.
