Judge Recommends Castration as Punishment for Serial Rapists

Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau has recommended that serial or child rapists must be castrated – she said this after she heard a case where a 15-year-old girl happened to be a victim of sexual abuse by her stepfather for four years. "The Indian legislatures are yet to take notice of this alarming situation and address the issue with all seriousness by exploring the possibility of alternative sentences of surgical castration or chemical castration, particularly in cases of minors, serial offenders and child molesters," she said.

The judge has sought the opinion of the ministry of law and also the national commission for women and has forwarded a copy of the order to them.
