Jeremy Hunt, The health secretary has suggested the reduction of the legal time limit on abortion to be halved to 12 weeks, from the present time limit of 24 weeks.
He said: "It's just my view about that incredibly difficult question about the moment that we should deem life to start. I don't think the reason I have that view is for religious reasons."
According to statistics, 91 per cent of abortions happen before the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Doctors are also of the opinion that a 12-week limit would help restrict testing for conditions including Down's syndrome.
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists have labeled this thought as an insult to women which is also completely against the rights of British women and families.
