Jade Goody Totally Devastated After Doctors Confirm the Worst!

by Hannah Punitha on Feb 5 2009 4:58 PM

Jade Goody is completely 'devastated', as doctors have told her that her cancer has spread.

After numerous bouts of chemotherapy, which cruelly saw her hair fall out, the former Big Brother star was hoping for some good news.

However, doctors have told her that tumours had been found in her liver, bowel and groin.

They have scrapped their previous estimate that she had a 40 per cent chance of survival - and have begun treating the mum-of-two to prolong her life as long as possible rather than pursue a cure.

"I am devastated. I am frightened and I am angry. I don't want to die because I have so much to live for," the Sun quoted her, as saying.

"The reality is I have gone from a 40 per cent chance of a cure to seeing how long I can stay alive.

"The whole thing is absolutely terrifying. To try and remain positive, I am hoping a new type of treatment will suppress and control the cancer, which is very aggressive. I am in a nightmare," she said.

Jade added: "It's awful. The doctors have confirmed the worst. The chemo hasn't been as effective as I hoped.

"They are now trying to work out the best way to attack these new tumours and still have an effect on the original cancer in the cervix.

"All I can do is hope a different combination of drugs and all the expert care will mean the cancer can be kept at bay. That's what I hope and pray will happen," she added.

Emergency meetings have been conducted to develop a new action plan to minimise Goody's suffering and try to shrink the aggressive tumours.

Medics at the Royal Marsden have not given her a percentage survival rating.

They said only that they are now treating her to prolong her life so she can spend as much time as possible with her boys.

A friend said: "It's what we'd all been dreading.

"You think with Jade that she'll always bounce back. You think she's a fighter and that she's going to beat this.

"But she can't seem to win this fight - the cancer is too advanced and the doctors don't hold out much hope.

"It's so unfair. She's a mum of two young kids and they need her. Everyone is in total shock and all that's left to do is pray," the friend added.
