It is Okay for Women to Have Facelifts to Feel Good, Says Helen Mirren

Oscar-winning actress Dame Helen Mirren has said that it is okay for women to go for for facelifts if it made them feel good.

The star said that she understands why women opt for cosmetic surgery in a bid to look younger.

"I don't think there's outside pressure, I think it's the pressure you put on yourself when you look at yourself in the mirror in the morning," the Telegraph quoted her a saying.

"You go, 'I don't want to look at that face any more', and I understand that, absolutely. I think people should be allowed to do whatever they want to make themselves feel happy," she added.

The 64-year-old laughed off the suggestion that female audiences relate to her because she seems 'real' in a world of Hollywood fakery.

She told GMTV: "I think you go in and out of popularity. When you're in the public eye, you go through phases. Sometimes people like you and sometimes they just can't stand the sight of you. nd then it comes back again. So I don't think it's much to do with the way you look."
