A disturbing trend among parents, as revealed by a recent insight, found one out of five consuming alcohol regularly and worse holding the opinion that such a habit may not affect the family adversely.
Infact, some went a step further by confessing that consuming alcohol kept the mood good, which was actually a positive experience for the family.
Nearly fifty percent of the families surveyed said they consumed alcohol every week and seven percent said they had alcohol everyday.
Mark Bennett, director of policy at 4Children, said the findings show Britons see "habitual drinking as a normal part of life, as normal as drinking tea. Part of the problem is people don't realize that they are causing problems by drinking to excess habitually. It could first be one glass, which leads to another. If parents have had a bottle of wine or more, their ability to react to their child, especially a small child, will be impaired."
