An Israeli company has developed a new ingestible capsule that travels through the bowels of patients and detect whether the patient is suffering from colorectal cancer.

Check-Cap has received financial backing from GE Healthcare, which has invested over $250 million as part of its healthy imagination fund to be used in investing in promising healthcare technology companies.

The device travels through the patients’ bowels, capturing high resolution 3D images with the help of a low energy X-ray-based technology.

The images are then transferred to a wrist-worn data receiver while the patient can carry on with their routine work. The device then leaves the body in the “natural” way.
