The Indian and the Pakistani cricketers came together for a noble cause to eradicate polio and gave drops to some children in a polio camp at the team hotel at New Delhi on Saturday.

"We have to bowl out polio. Let us come together and eradicate polio to ensure that all children can run and play and lead a normal life," India captain Anil Kumble said on the eve of the polio immunization round.

The Indian cricketers after a gruelling third day of the first Test match headed directly to the programme, which was held beside the swimming pool of the team hotel. The cricketers then gave drops to some of the children in the camp, which was organized by World Health Organisation (WHO).

"I call upon everyone to ensure that every child under the age of five years is immunized every time when there is a polio campaign," said Kumble.

Both India and Pakistan are among the four endemic countries of the world but making substantial progress in crippling this disease.

"Both the countries fall behind in eradicating this disease. I think it is high time we forget all prejudices and give a healthy future to our children," said Pakistan speedstar Shoaib Akhtar.
