"ElearnSCI.org provides information on spinal cord injury management and addresses lack of development opportunities for medical and paramedical professionals management due to the limited access of training and learning materials and resources on spinal cord injuries," H.P.S. Ahluwalia, chairman of Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (ISIC) here, said.

"Spinal injuries in India are mostly due to road accidents and falling from a height," said A.K. Mukherjee, ISIC director general.

"If we can create awareness on ways to prevent such accidents, the number of spinal injury cases will decrease."

Around 20,000 people suffer from spinal cord injury in India and most of them are paralysed from the lower half of their bodies, says ISIC.

The centre has also organised a two-day International Spine and Spinal Injuries Conference (ISSICON) on new techniques on spine fixation, back spine deformity and spine trauma with experts from across the world.

The event began Saturday.

MRI OF DL SPINE WITH CONTRAST CHAUDHARI IMAGING SPECTRUM PVT LTD Two intra dural T1 hypo and T2/ STIR Hyper intense enhancing lesion seen involving the dorso lumbar spinal canal . The largest lesion at D 11-D12 measures 3.5 x 1.5 cm and is predominantly in right side of the spinal canal with relatively compressed lower cord / conus . Other lesion at L1 measures 2.1 x 1.5 cm Similar smaller lesion of few mm size is seen at L3 just abutting the right sided nerve root . Lesion shows peripheral rim enhancement with central necrosis after I.V. GADOLINUM . There is normal alignment of whole lenth vertebral column with fairly maintained primary and secondary curvature . There are generalized minor marginal osteophytosis with intact end plate outline and vertebral height . The inter vertebral discs at all dorso lumbar level are fairly well maintained in signal intensity and hight . The pre and para vertebral soft tissues are normal . Both SI joint joints are normal . The bony lumber canal dimension is within normal limits . REMARKS Muliple [ at least three ] intradural T1 hypo and T2 / STIR Hyper intense enhancing lesion involving the dorso lumbar spinal canal with cord compression as described above .
