Indian President Pranab Mukherjee Recovering in Army Hospital After Angioplasty
Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, who is recovering after his coronary angioplasty, will remain in hospital on Monday on the advise of doctors.
“He is showing improvement,” said sources with the doctors.

Doctors at Army's Research and Referral hospital in New Delhi, who installed a coronary stent in his artery last Saturday, recommended that Mukherjee should remain hospitalised till Tuesday, the sources added.

The coronary angioplasty was conducted as medicos detected a blockage in Mukherjee’s heart after he was admitted there with stomach problems.

On Sunday, Mr. Mukherjee thanked people for their wishes on his official twitter account.

"Grateful for all the thoughts, wishes and prayers for my good health; I have recovered and am hoping to return to work soon," the President tweeted.

Coronary angioplasty is a medical practice used to open blocked or narrowed coronary (heart) arteries. The procedure improves blood flow to the heart.
