India Celebrates 5th National Voters' Day on January 25

The Election Commission of India (ECI) is celebrating the 5th National Voters' Day (NVD) across the country on January 25 with the theme 'Easy Registration, Easy Correction'. The ECI's objective through NVD is to increase the enrollment of voters, especially of the newly eligible ones.

The national function will be held at weight lifting auditorium of Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium. It will be presided over by former president Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Awards will be given for the Best Electoral Practices to Chief Electoral Officers and District Election Officers, and also to media houses and civil society organizations for best campaign in voters' education and awareness.

Roadmap to Tackle Stunting in Tribal Kids in India
The Indian government has drawn up a road map to tackle under-nutrition or stunting, which contributes to one-third of under-five child deaths among tribal children.

January 25 is also the foundation day of the ECI, which came into being on this day in 1950. The NVD is also utilized to spread awareness among voters regarding effective participation in the electoral process.
