Working women, a study many will find disappointing has said, look their best for just two hours and 22 minutes in the morning.

According to an Imperial Leather SkinKind study, the beautifully styled hairdo and fully made-up face perfected in front of the bathroom mirror is history by precisely 10.03am.

A new survey has found that working women are spending on an average 13.5 hours juggling between work and home that they get just one hour a day to themselves.

After that point, the typical woman's professional, polished image is replaced by worn-off lipstick, smudged eye make-up and dishevelled hair, which leads millions of women being forced to reach into their handbag for a hairbrush, lipstick or concealer in a bid to regain their fresh-faced look.

The study also found that the average woman spends 38 minutes getting ready and leaves the house at 7.40am looking and feeling like a million dollars.

"The majority of women take time in the mornings to look the best they possibly can," the Daily Mail quoted Rebecca Wilson, the spokeswoman as saying.

A British think-tank has predicted that in the next four years there will be more working women than men.

"Consequently, most women struggle to get to the end of the working day looking like they did first thing in the morning," she said.

Nearly three quarters of the 2,000 women who were polled admitted that over the course of the day their appearance goes "drastically downhill".
