There has been a surge in cases of drug resistant tuberculosis in the last one year. The health protection agency has urged health commissioners to prioritize treatment in the worst affected areas.

HPA Alarmed at Rise in Drug-resistant TB

According to data from The Health Protection Agency, there has been a 25% increase in cases of drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) in the UK during the last year.

Nearly 431 cases failed to respond to antibiotic treatment in 2011 compared to 342 in 2010.
