How to Talk to Children About Ebola: CDC

The rampant nature of the Ebola virus has made it imperative that children understand the disease in a basic manner. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has accordingly issued tips to help "children and parents understand what Ebola is, how it spreads, and the methods to prevent it." The CDC says that parents must first ask their child if he/she has heard about Ebola. Thereafter, if the child has any misinformation, the parent needs to correct it and give him the proper information.

The CDC also advises parents to limit their child's exposure to Ebola information from the media "Children see a lot of information on the internet, television, and social media. Nonstop exposure makes the risk seem bigger than it is," the CDC states.

Finally, parents need to promote healthy behaviors, such as washing hands frequently, amongst their children and ensure they get rest, physical activity, and eat healthy foods.
