Housewife Poisoned, Raped and Left Unconscious in New Delhi, No Clue About Culprits

by Gopalan on Apr 18 2008 2:00 PM

A young housewife has been poisoned, raped and left unconscious in the eastern part of the Indian capital of New Delhi. Police say there is as yet no clue as to the culprits.

When her husband came home for lunch, he was shocked to find the door open, not closed as was the practice at the time, and the children crying. Then he found his wife lying on the floor, unconscious, said a senior police official Thursday.

“The victim was lying semi-nude. She had bruises all over her body. There were injury marks on her private parts as well,” he revealed.

The police believe that the victim might have been poisoned before being sexually assaulted. She was found bleeding from her ear and neck and was also frothing.

A case of attempt to rape, criminal trespass, drugging and criminal assault has been registered at the Gandhi Nagar police station, reports the Hindustan Times.

Police are yet to gather any useful information from the traumatized children as to the identity of those who had perpetrated the horrendous crime.
