Home-Based Primary Care Announced by Srikon
Srikon Healthcare Private Limited has announced a unique home-based primary care program that aims to bring back the concept of family physician.
Under the programme said to be the first of its kind in India, the family physician will assess and treat ailments in the context of the family and their environment rather than affording treatment in isolation.

He will assess the patient's clinical, psychological and social situation, counsel them about their medical condition, suggest various care options and manage referrals to appropriate specialists in the existing hospitals.

"The home-based model focuses on complementing the existing healthcare system by improving and monitoring quality of care, better case-management and referral methodology with better use of technology," said Subrahmanyam Nanduri, chairman of the Hyderabad-based healthcare service provider.

He told reporters that the need for such a programme was felt as the growth of multiple specialties and an increasing number of care providers and options often leave the patient confused.

The doctors will visit the patients who can't or don't want to visit hospital frequently.
