Mexican candies with lead content banned
Department of Health Services would be banning Mexican candies with lead contents for sale in United States. Following reports of high levels of lead in Mexican candies the Officials have banned the sale of Mexican brand of candies with high amount of lead. It is known that there are more than 100 brands of Mexican candies sold and the Government is planning to have stringent quality check testing of measuring to detect lead levels and if any shop is found to sell banned Mexican candies a fine of more than $500 would be imposed.

A recent report from the FDA as shown high amounts of lead in Mexican candies up to 15 percent more than the permitted levels which could be highly toxic for children’s. Lead in children’s is found to be toxic to enzyme function and body tissue and accumulation of lead can cause dysfunction of nervous system and may cause serious health problems, less IQ and may also cause nervous breakdown leading to death. Lead exposure in children’s can lead to learning disabilities, nervous system and kidney damage, behavioral problems, insufficient muscle and bone growth, hearing and vision problems.
