Health Minister Anil Vij Suspends a Doctor in B K Hospital During Surprise Visit

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij last Monday suspended an orthopaedic surgeon of a government-run hospital for alleged laxity in providing treatment.

Mr. Vij ordered the action during his surprise visit to B K Hospital in Faridabad. The minister also checked the facilities in the hospital to counter the spread of dengue.

Health Minister Sayendra Jain made a surprise visit to Acharya Shree Bhikshu Hospital in Moti Nagar to check preparedness for tackling dengue.

"If any doctor is found acting negligently, strict action would be taken against him," he minister told reporters.

While visiting the surgical ward of the hospital, Mr. Vij was approached by patients who complained of rude behavior by the hospital staff. Among them, a person, who was there with a fractured leg, told that his operation had been delayed for a month.

Later, the minister asked for the hospital's orthopaedic surgeon, who was found to have not been coming for last two days despite his leave not being sanctioned.

A total of 1,259 dengue cases have been recorded in Delhi this year till September 5. Health Minister blamed the municipal corporation for not taking proper measures.

Mr Vij said the doctor has been suspended and that the state government would soon arrange for his replacement.
