Have You Heard of a Rare Skin Condition, Harlequin Ichthyosis?
Hunter Steinitz is a teenager who suffers from an extremely rare skin condition called, harlequin ichthyosis, which means that she is unable to close her eyes or grow her hair.
She could also suffer from life-threatening dehydration.

This condition has made her skin very thick; she also has many dry patches. She is unable to perspire due to the thickness of the skin. She is unable to move freely and her hair does not grow as the hair follicles are blocked by the skin.

Improved awareness of this condition has been a blessing and it is due to this that she has survived - many victims do not live more than a year. The risk to life is due to the absence of important fats in the skin that actually protect against bacteria.

Hunter needs to take an extended bath in order to soak up as much moisture as possible and then she needs to apply many oils and lotions throughout the day.

Hunter is now on a journey to educate people about this disorder and help victims look at the condition more positively.
