Selenium compound is naturally found in garlic and broccoli, and boosts immune system to fight against cancer, reveals a new study.
Researchers from the University of Copenhagen found that certain selenium compounds effectively block the special immunostimulatory molecule that plays a serious role for aggressive cancers such as melanoma, prostate cancer and certain types of leukaemia.
AdvertisementProfessor Soren Skov said that stimulating molecules over-activate the immune system and cause it to collapse, and they are interested in blocking this mechanism.
The study was published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
