Four Out of Ten Brits Carry Auburn Genes

A recent insight has revealed that four out of ten Brits carry auburn genes, without actually having red hair, and this might not augur well for their health.

Statistics show that 6 percent of the people in England have red hair and many Brits carry ‘silent’ red hair genes.

A study conducted on the DNA of more than 5,000 British people found that four out of ten carry the genes that make red hair. Cloudy British weather is the reason behind all these redhead genes, say researchers. Since the weather in Britain is cloudy most of the time, redheads have evolved a paler skin in order to absorb more sunlight to make up for scarce amount of Vitamin D.
