Bariatric surgeon, Dr Mohit Bhandari, and his team performed a laparoscopic surgery on the patient at Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences.

This was a chronic case where the lady's excess weight led to a whole lot of health problems - sleep apnea, hypertension and diabetes. Prior to surgery, her BMI was 132. Her excessive weight had made her extremely sluggish and she was bedridden all these years.

"After the two-hour long surgery the condition of the 40-year-old woman is stable and we are hopeful that her weight would reduce to somewhere around 150 kgs in next five months," Dr Mohit said.
