Food Laboratory in Mysore Confirms Goa’s FDA Results, Says Maggi Noodles Safe
The food testing laboratory at Mysore Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) has confirmed the analysis of five samples of instant Maggi noodles of Nestle India done by Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Goa. The food lab at CFTRI has been approved by the Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
The FDA had previously analyzed 5 samples of Nestle India's Maggi noodles during the peak of the controversy. In some states, the laboratory reports of the Maggi noodle samples found lead content more than the permissible limits, whereas the results of FDA in Goa found lead contents to be below the permissible limit.

The credibility of the FDA was questioned due to the apprehensions of some quarters of the public said Salim Veljee, FDA director.

The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) laboratory at Patto, Panaji also retested the same 5 samples and were found to be consistent with the findings of FDA Goa, he said. The FDA declared that the lead content of Maggi noodles samples to be below the permissible limit of 2.5 ppm and negative for MSG.

Following which sealed samples were sent to CFTRI, Mysore. All five samples of Nestle India's Maggi noodles had lead content well below the permissible limits and negative for MSG, said the test reports of CFTRI reconfirming FDA Goa’s results.

Findings of CFTRI means there is no doubt about the reliability and accuracy of analysis conducted at FDA, Goa. However this does not in any manner give a clean chit to the company for their products, said Veljee.
