Females are Jealous of More Attractive Female Colleagues
Women are jealous of their female co-workers if they are more attractive and work well with their male counterparts, according to a new study by Spanish researchers.
Researchers from Valencia University initially asked 200 workers to fill out a questionnaire before expanding the pool of participants by a further 117 workers.

The researchers found that sexual competition played a big part in generating envy among women workers compared to their male counterparts. However a particular employee’s good social skills could trigger envy among both sets of workers.

“This result shows the importance of the skills in work environments. Women with a high level of ‘intra-sexual’ competition are more jealous if the rival is more attractive and more envious if the rival is more powerful and dominating. These feelings can cause stress and negatively affect the quality of working life”, lead researcher Professor Rosario Zurriaga said.
