Fast Selling Cicada Ice Cream Taken Off Menu in Missouri Ice Cream Parlor
A local ice cream parlor in Columbia, Missouri, took out a fast selling Cicada ice cream off its menu after health officials said that the department did not have information regarding the safe cooking temperatures for the insects.
Sparky’s started selling the Cicada ice cream after collecting the bugs from the owner’s backyard, the LA Times reported.

The ice cream was sold off pretty quickly though the management was asked to take it off the menu by the health officials until they could get more information regarding the right way of cooking the insects.

An article published by John Roach on the National Geographic website says that eating the bugs are nutritious for our health and has low fat and high protein content compared to bacon double-cheeseburger.
