Following claims of curing obesity, cancer and even AIDS, yoga has now branched into anti-aging industry with hundreds of women in Australia shunning expensive face creams and botox treatments and joining face yoga classes.
There are a number of videos on YouTube, books and even smartphone apps that provide information and "postures" that help reduce wrinkles and slow down the process of aging. Even celebrities are followers of the practice with well known names such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston associated with face yoga.
Says Annilese Hagen, author of the book The Yoga Face and developer of the ifaceyoga app, "A lot of people do face yoga. Celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston are advocates and anyone who likes to look good and be healthy and natural. Using yoga techniques and facial gymnastics leads to a natural lifting, brightening and toning of the facial muscles and facial appearance."
