Extent of Multiple Sclerosis Revealed With a New Simple Eye Test
Scientists have come out with a simple eye test that may prove to be good at monitoring patients with multiple sclerosis (MS).
The eye test, which takes just a few minutes per eye, can be performed in a doctor’s surgery. This is called Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scan and can measure the thickness of the retina.

A study of 164 people revealed that people with thinning of their retina were found to have more active MS.

The study found that people with MS relapses, portrayed much faster thinning of their retina than people with MS who did not suffer relapses.

The study also found that people with MS and inflammatory lesions visible on brain scans, portrayed accelerated retinal thinning than those who did not have visible brain scans.

Scientists found this eye test to be extremely useful in monitoring victims of MS.
