Drug Control Administration Seizes Prohibited Drugs Worth Rs 33.75 Lakh in Telangana
Around 25 pharmaceutical units in Hyderabad, Telangana were put under scanner by Akun Sabharwal, Director of Drug Control Administration.
The official seized drugs worth Rs.33.75 lakhs declaring them as ‘prohibited for sale.’ The DCA officials issued show cause notices to the manufacturing units seeking explanations, collection for details of products sold and for legal action (stop production orders). In 23 units, good manufacturing practices (GMP) were not followed.

In one of the case, Rs 4 lakh worth fish feed supplement containing Ivermectin was found in the warehouse of Herbochem in Balanagar and the stock was prohibited for sale. In another case, 500 kg of Lactic Acid Bacillus worth Rs 4.75 lakh was seized from Microbax (India) Limited, Patancheru.

Deputy director and licensing authority of the DCA, M Amrutha Rao said, “The unit does not have license to use Ivermectin to manufacture the fish feed supplement. After preparation, the finished product is being sold in Andhra Pradesh.’’
