Drinking too Much Water can Actually be Fatal
Remaining hydrated is a major concern for athletes but a new study reveals that consuming too much water or sports drink could be fatal.
The study was conducted by researchers at Loyola University Medical Center who analyzed past cases of players dying exercise-associated hyponatremia, a condition that is caused by drinking excessive amounts of plain water leading to low concentration of sodium in the blood which in turn causes swelling of the brain that can result in seizures, coma, and death.

The findings come after two football players reportedly died of hyponatremia with Zyrees Oliver, from Georgia, drinking two gallons of water and two gallons of sports drink before collapsing at his home while another footballer from Mississippi developed the condition during a game and died at a hospital.
