A recent study from Melbourne seems to debunk the
theory about consumption of eight glasses of water daily as a way to stay
healthy and maintain weight.
Researchers recommend a daily fluid intake of about 2.8
litres for women and 3.4 litres for men. They believe that total fluid intake
in a day could come from fluids derived from food and intake of other beverages
like tea and coffee.
There is no need to drink water to quench one's
thirst, even a beverage will do. The mandatory requirement of two liters of
water regularly is an absolute myth. What is important is to ensure intake of
fluids, be it from any source- food, or from beverages.
