DMI (DNA Medicine Institute) Diagnostics has been announced as the winner of the Nokia Sensing XPrize Challenge.
The second Grand Prize of $525,000 was awarded for DMI's cutting edge medical testing device, the rHEALTH X or the Reusable Handheld Electrolyte and Lab Technology for Humans (rHEALTH) X. This device can conduct up to 22 lab tests using just a single drop of blood.
DMI Founder and CEO Eugene Y. Chan, M.D, said his company was honored to be recognized for its efforts, "To be selected from such an impressive group of worthy competitors is extremely humbling. Our hope is that the rHEALTH system, once commercialized, will enable consumers to monitor their own health while on-the-go in a more efficient manner and alert them of more serious medical concerns almost immediately," he added.
