Diddy Spends for Drunks to Get Home Safe on New Year’s Eve

by VR Sreeraman on Dec 31 2008 3:04 PM

Sean Combs, known by his stage name Diddy, is putting forward his wallet to pay for the cab-fare to help drunkards get home safely on New Years Eve.

The American rapper is set to team up with New York’s Taxi & Limousine Commission to give away thousands of debit cards, worth 15 dollars, for taxi rides to welcome 2009.

"New York is the world’s most iconic New Year’s Eve city, so let’s lead by example and show everyone that a sophisticated holiday celebration doesn’t just end when the ball drops, but when everyone gets home safely," the New York Daily News quoted Combs as saying.

The debit cards, which can be redeemed for single taxi rides, would be distributed in Times Square and in Chelsea as the clock strikes 11 p.m. on the night of December 31.

They would be available for grabs until 3 am New Year’s Day, or until the supply lasts.
