Curries Contain High Salt Levels

 Curries Contain High Salt Levels
A new research has revealed that Britons who often indulge in “curry nights” could be consuming higher than recommended levels of salt intake.
While the recommended maximum intake of salt each day is 6g, the research carried out by Consensus Action on Salt and Health (Cash) found that a portion of chicken tikka masala amounted to 6.8g of salt which when combined with naan bread and chutney could increase the level of salt intake well above the recommended limit.

“This survey shows salt can be hidden behind all the spices and chilli in your curry, even in side dishes and sauces. Add to this the lack of clear labelling on packaging in takeaway restaurants and it makes it very hard for consumers to choose a healthy option”, said Cash’s Katharine Jenner.

The organization suggested that people should look around for alternate dishes which, while being tasty enough, contain lower salt levels.
