CoreValve Evolut R Transcatheter Aortic Valve System Approved For Release in U.S.
Medtronic has received FDA approval in the U.S and is launching the CoreValve Evolut R transcatheter aortic valve system. The device comes in three sizes (23mm, 26mm, 29mm).
The EnVeo R delivery system allows the valve to be recaptured and repositioned as necessary to achieve proper placement if the first attempts didn’t quite hit the mark.

Features of the CoreValve Evolut R includes, accurate positioning of the catheter by the use of an intuitive handle, recapture and reposition the valve during the deployment phase.

The delivery system works through a sheath of only a 14 Fr equivalent (less than 1/5 inch in width), the narrowest profile of any similar device on the market, allowing it to work with patients who have narrower vasculature.

The new design helps prevent blood flow and an extra skirt on the two larger sized valves are intended to seal the annulus and prevent blood passing around the device.
